When you create ads for Google or any other search engine, you need a place for your customers to “land on” once they have clicked on the ad. That is where a landing page comes in. However, even when creating a landing page for brand optimization, there are mistakes that are often made that could have been easily avoided. What are landing pages and what can it do for your brand?
Like its name suggests, a landing page is a place for customers to go to after they have responded to an ad or a link. The landing page is the first thing they see, and is often an indicator of whether or not they are going to respond further. Most people make the mistake of having their homepage as their landing page. While this may be appropriate in some situations, there are times when it is beneficial to have another page take its place. Should it all stop at the landing page? Another mistake that people make is that they simply let the landing page do all the talking, and offer nothing else. For a landing page to be successful, the customer needs to be able to interact with the page by responding to certain offers or by replying to a call to action. Does content matter? When designing a landing page, businesses should be very thoughtful about the types of content that they place on it. This can be expressed by a call to action that asks your customers to complete a certain task (Click Here to Redeem!) or something similar. For example, while information is great, there also has to be something worthwhile that rewards your visitors for coming to your site. How do you reward your site visitors? Visitors can be rewarded by clicking links for coupons that offer discounts or other similar items that offer something of value. Providing such deals will keep your customers on your page and will help keep your bounce rate to a very low percentage. Landing pages are important, especially since they are the first impression customers get. Like they say, you only get one chance to make a good impression, so you better make sure you have a powerful one and avoid making the mistakes of others.
